Summary

This position is responsible for assisting with the development and management of Federal legislative and regulatory strategies for the clients of Chamber Hill Strategies. As part of these responsibilities, the Associate will evaluate pending legislation, regulations, and stakeholder agendas that may impact the firm’s clients. The Associate will draft correspondence and communications related to specific policy issues and client-related matters.

Job Description

  • Work closely with the firm’s partners, principals, and associates to support the public policy needs of the firm’s clients
  • Serve as a member of a variety of client teams
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant public policymakers
  • Attend and analyze Congressional hearings and other public meetings of the Federal government and produce written reports for internal and external audiences
  • Synthesize public policy research into firm reports and presentations
  • Research and analyze materials related to prospective clients
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 4-5 years of experience in political science, legislative affairs, or related field.  Experience can be gained from working on Capitol Hill, advocacy associations, or government affairs in the private sector. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills 
  • Knowledge of the Federal legislative process and political issues 
  • Experience researching legislation, laws and public policy issues 
  • Ability to analyze proposed and adopted legislation, policies and administrative rules, as well as legislative impacts and application 
  • Basic knowledge of current health care legislation and regulations and familiarity with the Congressional committees of jurisdiction related to health care 
  • Experience with Congressional hearing coverage 
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, work independently and collaboratively, and be a self-starter 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs  
  • Sense of humor

  • Office 365
  • Videoconferencing platforms such as Teams/Zoom/Webex
  • MailChimp
  • Asana
