Analyst – Government Affairs

Summary

This position is responsible for assisting in the development and management of Federal legislative and regulatory strategies for the clients of Chamber Hill Strategies.   As part of these responsibilities, the Associate assists Associates and Principals in evaluating pending legislation, regulations, and stakeholder Analyst that may impact the firm’s clients.  The Analyst assists in drafting correspondence and communications related to specific policy issues and client-related matters.  The Analyst manages the firm’s daily health policy subscription service from production to subscriber management.

Job Description

  • Work closely with the firm’s Partners, Principals, Associates, and Analysts to support the public policy needs of the firm’s clients
  • Serve as a member of a variety of client teams
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant public policymakers
  • Attend and analyze Congressional hearings and other public meetings of the Federal government and produce written reports for internal and external audiences
  • Assist in synthesizing public policy research into firm reports and presentations
  • Produce and distribute the firm’s policy newsletter
  • Assist in research related to prospective clients
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skill Abilities

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of the Federal legislative process and political issues
  • Experience researching legislation, laws and public policy issues
  • Ability to analyze proposed and adopted legislation, policies and administrative rules, as well as legislative impacts and application
  • Basic knowledge of current health care legislation and regulations and familiarity with the Congressional committees of jurisdiction related to health care
  • Experience with Congressional hearing coverage
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, work independently and collaboratively, and be a self-starter
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, MailChimp, Canva, Gmail, Google Docs, videoconferencing platforms such as Teams/Zoom/Webex
  • Sense of humor
