Associate – Government Affairs

Summary

This position is responsible for supporting the development and management of Federal legislative and regulatory strategies for the clients of Chamber Hill Strategies. As part of these responsibilities, the Associate evaluates pending legislation, regulations, and stakeholder agendas that may impact the firm’s clients. The Associate drafts correspondence and communications related to specific policy issues and client-related matters. The Associate manages the firm’s daily health policy subscription service from production to subscriber management.

Job Description

  • Work closely with the firm’s Partners, Principals, Associates, and Analysts to support the public policy needs of the firm’s clients
  • Serve as a member of a variety of client teams
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant public policymakers
  • Attend and analyze Congressional hearings and other public meetings of the Federal government and produce written reports for internal and external audiences
  • Synthesize public policy research into firm reports and presentations
  • Produce and distribute the firm’s policy newsletter
  • Research and analyze materials related to prospective clients
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skill Abilities

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience engaging with and advocating to lawmakers and staff on Capitol Hill
  • Knowledge of the Federal legislative and regulatory process
  • Proven experience in analyzing statutes, regulation, legislation, and public policy issues
  • Basic knowledge of current health care legislation and regulations, including the Affordable Care Act, and Titles XVIII and XIX of the Social Security Act
  • Executive presence and professional presentation that represent the firm with credibility in written, verbal, and in-person settings
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, work independently and collaboratively, and be a self-starter
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, MailChimp, Canva, Gmail, Google Docs, videoconferencing platforms such as Teams/Zoom/Webex

The ideal candidate will have strong working knowledge or ability to quickly develop working knowledge with the following programs:
